Thank you for visiting my website.

I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher of mathematics and science, and have been providing personal tuition to students for more than 25 years. Since 2007 I have been working as a full time private tutor under the trade name “The GOSH CENTRE for MATHS & SCIENCE”. I provide personalised tuition in Mathematics and all the Science subjects from KS 1 to GCSE, and Mathematics (including Mechanics and Statistics), Further Mathematics and Physics for A-level.

My background includes a GCE ‘O’ Level [University of Cambridge] followed by BSc (Physics Honours), BEng (Hons), MEng and PhD.

All through my career I had been teaching Mathematics, Science, Electronics and IT Applications at a wide range of levels including GCSE/IGCSE, GCE – AS/A Level, Further Education – HND & ND, BSc and BEng. In 2007 I set up The GOSH CENTRE for MATHS & SCIENCE after taking an early retirement.

My long experience of tutoring has helped in developing an approach to tutoring which has proved to be been very effective in bringing out the best in my pupils and has been highly acclaimed by my students. Over the years I have built a reputation of making the learning of Maths and Science not only easy but also enjoyable.

MY TEACHING STRATEGY

I have often been asked about my teaching strategy.

The strategy is, of course, different for every student as that is the essence of personalised tuition. I analyse the personal learning ability of every student and adopt an appropriate strategy to help them develop/boost their self confidence, as it is, above all, a lack of confidence that holds most students back from achieving their full educational potential.

However, I do have an overall strategy which is based on my long experience of dealing with students of various backgrounds and abilities.

My general strategy of tutoring and dealing with children is to help them realise that learning is not a harrowing experience and makes the overall learning experience enjoyable and rewarding. A balance is maintained between the emphasis on performance and that on understanding.  I have found that students enjoy their learning, are motivated to succeed and their performance improves considerably without the rigours of “learning by rote”. This approach helps the child actually improve/raise ones potential rather than just performing up to ones potential. As a result, students not only achieve good exam grades but are also well prepared for higher studies in science and mathematics.

Choosing a tutor may not be an easy matter. Accordingly, you may avail of a free lesson so that you can decide whether my approach to tutoring suits your child. After the free lesson, I usually discuss my approach to tutoring and the strategy I would be taking to help your child before you make your choice.
